Andrew has spent the last 30 years establishing and transforming venues across the UK and is passionate about turning businesses into market leaders.
His career in events started when he founded The Business Design Centre in Islington, a venue which has since grown to become one of the most successful of its kind in the UK. He went on to partner with Candover Investments and led the management buy-in of Earls Court & Olympia and later became CEO of the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. During his time at the NEC he endeavoured to change the culture from ‘council’ to ‘commercial’ and transformed it into a truly exciting destination venue.
Today, Andrew has a small portfolio of business interests and is a published author; ‘Business to Go’ was released in 2012. The principles in his book were the basis for his tenure as Chief Executive of the Academy for Chief Executives, a role from which he recently stepped down. His mantra is ‘take your job seriously, but not yourself’.
He’s been married to wife Jennifer since 1976 and together they have three beautiful, talented children, Amy, Sophie and Ben. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and has a keen interest in contemporary art. His other interests include fine dining and working it off playing tennis.
